View Full Version : Heading home ..........

At the Frankfurt Airport Sheraton where I have a half-fast internet connection again. Flying home tomorrow. A 11.5 hour flight FRA => DFW (really!) and then a couple more hours and home. Be glad to get there. My butt just doesn't tolerate a coach class seat for 11+ hours very well.:(

My new Johhny Stout custom folder has arrived home and I'm dying to see it and take some pics. The wife still hasn't opened the package, so it will be like Xmas!

I had dinner in Munich last night with the Turkish babe that formerly worked at the fuel cell company, but now works somewhere else. I had her number and gave her a call to see if we could get together for a coffee or something. So she came over to my hotel and we had dinner and coffee. Man, she is still drop dead gorgeous! As we walked into the dining room you could see every guy in the place doing the proverbial jaw dropping, eye-bugging, tongue drolling reaction. And she knew it.:) Nope, sorry, no pics. I'm going to keep her all to myself.:D

Have a safe trip back :)

..... snapshots with the new lens I took yesterday. One of the program managers at the company we are working with had a birthday gathering at lunch. These are with no flash and the lens opened up pretty far. DoF is limited, but so far I like the lens. Makes for a nice, light kit with the D40.

The cute little blonde in the gray turtleneck and jeans is another one of their product managers that I am hoping to work with.

You have now unequivocally provided the "real" reason why you haven't retired yet..... hot European babes you get to work/play with often. LOL

I'll call Obammy about an upgrade to 1st class.

Better yet, I've been over sweet-talking to the young lady over in the American Airlines Admiral's Club, which is only about 200 yds from the hotel. She thinks she can get me a complementary upgrade to business class, and possibly to First. I have to check with her tomorrow morning. She isn't working tomorrow morning, but gave me her cell phone number to have her colleague at the ticket counter call her in the morning at 0800. It's amazing what a smile and a little Texas sweet talk can do. :D

Then after dinner tonight I sat next to a nice young (early 30's, maybe) businesswomen from Croatia in the hotel lounge when I went in for my normal dessert of coffee and cognac. She is the CEO of a fragrance company and a former model. We talked awhile about global economics, politics, Ayn Rand novels and classical music while sipping Remy Martin XO Excellence cognac. Sometimes this European travel stuff can be quite nice. Like Bob said, it's probably what keeps me from retiring.

(Now, if we could only do something about the fucking 11.5 hour flight. Scotty, beam me home!:))

Thanks, Mike .....
11.5 hours is a literal pain in the butt, but it beats walking and swimming. You travel enough that I'm sure you know it's a real pain sometimes. I wish I could take a nice, relaxing cross-atlantic cruise on these trips to Europe. But I guess the taxpayers would rather have me fly cattle class. :)

... the company seems to have more than their share of hot young women working as engineers and product managers. I would accuse them of doing it on purpose to attract customers, but I know the CEO and CTO pretty well, and they seem to hire really competent talent, both male and female. Neither of them are blantantly sexist, and everyone in the company does their jobs very well. Their chief of R&D, Dr. Graf, is also a very attractive women. I don't mind hanging out with these folks at all. :)

When I was using the 18-200mm zoom lens I would try to get some snaps of some babes at a distance, but I don't have the balls to do it with the 35mm lens. Have to be too close. Though I will admit that everyone I've asked if I could take their pic has agreed and smiled.

For example, you may remember these snaps I took of a couple of the girls in a cafe in Meppen last February:

I stopped by that same cafe in the little town last week and the girls remembered me, and remembered that I took their pictures, so I asked if I could take them again (Maren and Sarah):

Well, we got to talking. It turns out that the dark haired lady on the left is the owner of the cafe, a well known local business woman, and a good friend of the family that owns the little hotel where I stayed in the small town of Meppen. So we all ended up having dinner together one night and now I have their email addresses and more friends in Germany. That's one of the great things I like about about travel. I like to get to know the people I meet.
