We had a pretty good night last night so I was able to mess around with settings and captured this image. It’s not quite what I’m trying to accomplish and although I could prolly do what I want to in PS, I’m kind of being a purist and am trying to do it all in the camera. Let me know what you think. No worries if you think it sucks, just let me know what sucks about it so I can improve my skills. :THAT'S SO FUNNY:BHAHAHAHAHA! Skills? BHAHAHAHAHA!

BTW, this crop I decided to leave some shrubs in the foreground. Not sure that I’ll do that in the final version or not.

I’m about 3 miles away and it was very windy. I was lucky to have enough steady time for the shot.

I want to capture a cool looking image. Something kind of spooky even…..[This lighthouse is said to be haunted.] I want to do it old school not photoshop so everything has to be done in the camera through settings, skill and creativity. Tall order I know. BHAHAHAHAHA!

Basic Image Information:

Camera: Nikon D300
Lens: AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED [II]
Shot at 200 mm
Exposure: Manual exposure, 8 sec, f/7.1, ISO 200
Flash: none
Focus: AF-C at 34m, with a depth of field of about 8.0m (from about 3.5m before the focus point to about 4.5m after)
Tripod + Cable release.

Try a 30 second exposure at f11 & then a f/16 and work from there with a second capture at 20 seconds... for both f stops.

Hey Bruce, Your wife knows her lighthouses. I know about the restoration but didn't know about the chimney. I doubt we’ll hit the caves on this trip. Just relaxing for the most part.
