yesterday a 1969 explorer got it whenn I was a kid. last time i got it serviced was in 89 I think. wound it up set it to time.gov. and in 13 hours its gained a second. I wonder if its like a candle "burns the brightest" before it goes out completely. rolex certainly offered the assurance of Great accuracy before the quartz craze.

Kirky, the original Explorer is such a cool Rolex. So simple in its design and just the right size. These new 41mm Rolexs suck like the new DJ. My Explorer is a fake, but 99% right down to the tube and crown. I would give up my tt DJ for a real Explorer...

It would make your DJ TT look like a cu......you can guess the rest! :D:D

Pretty soon I'm gonna have my first ;) I wish they made the Exp I in 42 mm...that is, perhaps, the most classic looking watch in existence :)

and the sub. was gigantic at that time. I used the shit out of that watch high school college grad. school and onward. the bracelet is long gone Ted , hope to have your EXP.II and get it off to you. the EXP.II is a big improvement the GMT feat. blows away the bezel on the sub. as a more useful feat. I think & it has a date.

That's one of my all time favorite watches Kirk. It sounds like it's been through a lot with you too. If it could only talk. :)

ran great for 14 yrs. then I got it wet and it flooded with water gaskets were shot. my caveman approach to it was to crack the crystal with a screw driver tt olet it dry and took it in a week later for its 1st overall it was running after it dried out and the rolex guy said I didn't hurt it when i picked up after he worked his magic. I almost lost it at the old mustang ranch in reno one of the retaining pins were old and weak and it dropped on the floor. lucky i noticed :). when I was a kid I'd set the time to the kitchen clock or over the phone time & temp. provided by old Boatmnen's Bank in st.louis. funny the "dust" inside a rolex would "shut-down" anyother watch eg. Patek.

Good thing Walt O doesn't post here or we'd hear about metal shavings. :D

Mustang Ranch. Went there once just to say I'd been there. Not at all what I expected. Might say they sucked. Real good I might add. ;) ;)
