This Magellan Maestro 3200 Is available (refurb) for 70 bucks at Buy.com and runs about 85 on eBay.

Is it a good one or is there something better in the same range?

I think some of the guys picked that one up. Works great from what I remember. Their price was something like $99 IIRC. That seems like a killer deal. At that price I'm tempted and I don't even need one.

My daughter has that unit and has had no problems w/ it. My wife has the 4212 and it's a pretty sweet unit. I've had problems w/ each of my four Garmins but not w/ the Magellans.

What kinds of problems with the Garmins?

Turns out I had the thing set in bicycle mode. Works like a champ now (for her).

Garmin 1: Handheld unit took forever to power up and locate satellites. Display difficult to read. Consumed 4 x AA's at a rapid rate.

Garmin 2: Marine unit that worked OK except Garmin decided to stop supporting it with chart chips. Sold unit and old chip on ebay to defray the cost of #3

Garmin 3: Current marine unit. Anti reflective coating all screwed up, probably from Windex or something. Screen should be idiot proof. Screen too small (not Garmin's fault)

Garmin 4: POS Nuvi. Sound became intermittent then went out. Couldn't open case to check speaker wire. POS cord never worked right, POS suction mount never worked right. Replaced both with good quality aftermarket stuff from ebay so now I can use it w/o the sound.

I bought the 3225 from Amazon, same unit just built in a different location. I have a built in 7" unit in my car and the 3225 works just as well, if not better! Go for it...

Thanks gentlemen, I bought it. My BIL literally can't find his ass with both hands and he starts a new job today with some traveling so speed is of the essence. :)
