This arrived in the mail today, I found it on the exchange at BF. It's a Bark River Scandi Prototype and a fairly rare knife from what I've been told as they only made a handful. It's 7" overall with a 3" blade. As you can see it was used but since I'm going to use it....no big deal. :)

Green buckeye ??

The way I sharpen and handle knives - the lack of a guard would spell disaster for that beauty.

I think it's box elder burl but I won't bet on it. It's been stabilized and they often dye it when they do that.

As long as you're not stabbing with it you should be OK....it's not that much different than using a pocket knife.

Thanks. I got in about 120 miles or so yesterday. The weather here has been goofy this spring, it's been a lot cooler than normal (probably because of global warming ;)). It has to break soon though.

Have you worn off those chicken strips that seem to magically grow over the winter? :D

they did make a basic knife like that at one time. nice blade !

LOL...too funny. I admit I have a thing for scandi grinds lately...this won't be my last.
