They really are great computers. I've got an X31, T60 and a T61 and I've put them through quite a bit of abuse, and they keep coming back for more. My X31 is 6 years old and has been dropped numerous times, including being left on the roof of my car and coming off at 30km/hr :)

If I didn't have 2 laptops already I would pull the trigger on one of these REAL Thinkpads. The new Thinkpads are not really Thinkpads in the true sense. Not built by the King!

Hate to tell you this, but the T60 was built by Lenovo but still had the "IBM Thinkpad" logos on the lid and palmrest. Still....seems like the quality of the older Lenovo built Thinkpads are better than the new ones. They were using magnesium chassis on the old ones whereas the newer ones seem to have a distinct plastic feel to them.

the newest Thinkpads are very good without a doubt. I just prefer some of the older IBM stuff because they were the very best IMHO...

any busness class computer will be tough , IBM , Dell latitude and precission , HP elitebooks , they have magnesium frames and spill proof frames , they also have Hard drives that lift the heads if they move or are dropped , it's the consumer lines that suck and are made of cheap plastic . That is why most busness class comps have 3 year warranty and consumer 1 year .
