Default Smashburgers would be my pick of the fast food types....

They just moved to town. Before them, it would be 5 guys I guess. In KC we have so many great gourmet burger joints, and sports bars with great burgers, I rarely have a fast food burger.

Here's my favorite gourmet places:

Blanc Burgers and Bottles

http://www.blancburgers.com/ Click on a location and then bottles to see their tremendous soda, beer and wine selections

BRGR Kitchen

http://www.brgrkitchen.com/

Sweet potato fries have invaded all the gourmet burger places. Since I can't stand sweet potatoes........

I grew up on Bud's. The most old-fashioned, giant, greasy burgers in the west.

Why would I ask a guy that made Reuben sandwiches with half turkey?

In Rochester it's Tom Wahl's. This place is a landmark for about an 80 mile radius.

http://www.tomwahls.com/history.htm

This was my first real job with an actual paycheck. I worked there for years - pretty much held every job in the place. They used to get sides of beef in, and did all cutting, grinding and pressing on the premises, and even had a full-time butcher.

This qualifies me to say that 5 Guys does it right. With all due respect to other opinions, perhaps you visited a crappy store on an off day.

I probably would not have tried Five Guys if not for your endorsement over the years. Thanks.

New place opened up down the street. "Cheeseburger Bobby's"...blows Five Guys away. It really is the best I've ever had.
